S. Dagnal Rowe is an attorney and shareholder with the firm Wilmer & Lee, and a resident attorney of the firm’s Huntsville, Alabama office.
Dag attended the University of Alabama where he was President of the College of Arts and Sciences and earned a B.A. Degree, the University of Alabama School of Law where he was President of the law school student body and earned a J.D. Degree, and New York University School of Law where he earned an L.L.M. Degree. He is admitted to practice in Alabama, as well as various federal courts, including the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the United States Tax Court, and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Rowe has an AV Rating (its highest) with Martindale-Hubbell and is recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America, and as a Super Lawyer, and is listed in Who’s Who in the Law.
Dag is a member of the Huntsville-Madison County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Alabama State Bar. He is a Past President of the Alabama State Bar with more than 18,000 members. Dag is also a Commissioner of the Alabama Securities Commission, a sitting Judge of the Alabama Court of the Judiciary, and a Trustee of the University of Alabama Law School Foundation.
Dag has a very diverse practice, including Trusts and Estates Law, Elder Law, Business Planning, Business Litigation, Commercial Real Estate, Corporate Law, Banking Law, Bankruptcy Law and Creditor’s Rights. His practice includes the defense and prosecution of estate and trust disputes, including Will contests and claims against personal representatives or trustees for alleged breach of fiduciary duty. Dag also defends and prosecutes shareholder disputes and construction disputes. Dag also structures business acquisitions, sales and dissolutions.
Dag also works earnestly serving his local community. He has served as Chair of the Board of Directors of several significant charities and non-profits, including the United Way, Volunteers of America, Leadership Huntsville/Madison County, and the University of Alabama in Huntsville Foundation. He was also a long-time Director of the Huntsville Public Library and member of the Board of Zoning Adjustment of the City of Huntsville. Dag is also a member of Sigma Chi Social Fraternity (which recognized him nationally as a “Significant Sig”), and the Huntsville Rotary Club (Past President and a Paul Harris Fellow). He is a graduate of Leadership Huntsville/Madison County (and its past Chair) and of Leadership Alabama. Dag is the recipient of various awards and accolades, including the Rotary Vocational Excellence Award, Oakwood University’s Distinguished Community Service Award, Huntsville-Madison County Bar Association’s annual Community Service Award, and a past featured honoree of the annual roast of the Huntsville Diabetes Association.
Dag attends First Presbyterian Church of Huntsville with his wife, the former Melissa J. Holliman, who is a successful interior designer and local business leader. He is very involved with his church, serving as a past Moderator of the Board of Deacons, as past Clerk of the Board of Elders, and as past Chair on the Board of Trustees.
